Disk/Zips/Memory Sticks

Please include a covering note or “read me” text file containing your contact, reference no., printing and delivery details.

File Types
Wherever possible, files should be supplied as flattened, CMYK artwork with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi in either PDF, TIFF or JPEG format. Vector files (such as Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, etc.) are prone to numerous bugs and if possible should be avoided as a format for finished artwork. If there is no option but to send vector files, please ensure that all fonts are converted to outlines. Please be aware that when conversion or printing software errors occur there may be a charge for putting the files right which you will be advised of prior to correction. PDF files should be high resolution, without downsampling and all fonts should be embedded. If possible avoid sending Microsoft Word documents as this is not a print ready application and an extra charge will be incurred on reworking unusable artwork.

Colours
RGB images may have a colour change when converted to CMYK prior to printing. All files should ideally be converted to CMYK colour mode as not all RGB colours can be reproduced with the CMYK colour printing process. If using large areas of solid black, the colour breakdown should be 100% black, 50% cyan. Black areas without the cyan can cause ink saturation problems and therefore should be avoided. It is advisable to steer clear of using 4 colour blacks as they prevent the inks from being raised too high and can cause the other colours to appear washed out.

Bleed
Bleed is the printers terminology for printing beyond the finished size of the page. Due to possible slight variation in cutting it is a safeguard to ensure that your artwork is larger than the finished size and avoid any chance of white edges appearing on your finished page. If the image has a white background, then no bleed is required, it is however a good practice to always supply finished artwork with bleed in place. We require that, when bleed is needed a bleed of 3mm must be added. A good practice is not to place any text or important images too close to the finished edge.
